Her wrinkled and weathered appearance in the emotive black and white photo that I found in stock photos, warmed my heart and evoked thoughts of tireless hard work, grit and determination. I wanted to adorn her with delicate flowers as surface decoration to celebrate my perception of her life achievements. I carefully considered the following features. Forehead: to symbolise wisdom, evident in the deep furrows of wrinkles of wisdom. Eyes: to symbolise the beauty and battles that she has seen, the joy and optimism she brings which is clearly visible through the laughter lines of wrinkles. Chin and Mouth: to symbolise spoken words of unconditional love: Nose: to symbolise inhaling awareness and the perception of her achievements and the warmth and kindness that radiates from deep within.</image:caption>

Mum had an interest in astrology and ceramics. Ben is studying Aerospace Engineering at University, and Zoe is interested in Marine Biology, astrology, and astronomy. All these fields are dependent on the moon, and Marine Biology and gravitational pull from the Moon affect the Ocean and Tides. I see the ROCKET as a symbol of bravery and success. 3,2,1, Blast-off. We measure personal values, beliefs, goals, expectations, and consider the complexities and challenges, and how those elements align or impact on individuals. Creating a collection of six slip cast ceramic moulds of the basic tape measure first, enabled me a platform to modify, manipulate and manifest symbolic sculptural representations of the units of measurement we use to narrate conceptual stories of navigating online relationships.</image:caption>

By working with metal and clay, I feel a spiritual connection to my parents and strive to honour the creative passions they have instilled in me. I juxtapose adornment and decay by carving raku clay with intricate blood vessels and obscuring it with rust to signify the decay of renal failure. <image:caption>feeneys white raku, cesco Aegean blue, walkers stoneware clear glaze, 270mm width x 190mm depth x 240mm height Artwork Statement: Catch and Release explores the connection and disconnection in digital relationships. I have drawn inspiration from the complexities and challenges that individuals face when navigating the shadowy depths of online dating and a play on words with fishing terms. The surface decoration symbolism is an emotional response to pretences and deceptions people use to conceal their identity. Masquerading and elusive they fill honest minds with possibilities and promises before swiftly dissolving into the shadowy depths of the indigo ocean. Each bowl serves as a visually and tactilely engaging reflection of the complexities and emotional seascape involved in seeking connection. The gentle curved form of the goldfish bowl form symbolises both the fragility and comfort of connections, while nurturing the warmth and hope associated with new relationships. The unctuous texture of the interior emulates comfort; the images embody personalities and character traits and the sea-green crackle glaze on the exterior serves as a reminder of the unpredictable personalities that can challenge and wear us down while invoking hope and resilience.</image:caption>

Each flag, peak and valley of the flag book represents the hope and anticipation bound to each emotional stage experienced during the complexities of online dating. Visual elements - translucency, embossing, screen printing, gold leaf and cyanotypes reflect the emotional weight often carried in relationships. The flag book incorporates tactile elements to encourage viewers reflection on their own experiences while nurturing a sense of shared vulnerability. This concept explores the duality of seeking serenity in relationships while becoming entangled in the addictive cycle of online dating, which often leads to an emotionally flat experience we endure. It reflects on the peaceful and nostalgic memories I recall while snorkelling in the sparkling ocean, highlighting the exhilarating yet fleeting joy of superficial connections. Lino Block Print onto Brown Kraft Paper will explore printing onto Belgium Linen next. 630mm x 1485mm, Lino Block size: 210mm x 297mm Artist Statement Why fish hide and how to catch them is the paradox I explore through the metaphorical journey of ‘catching a fish’ in the context of modern relationships. Exploring the intricate emotional seascape of online dating reveals the bingo-like game we engage in, balancing hopeful aspirations with the harsh realities that define digital relationships. The visual component emphasises the overwhelming abundance of choices, drawing inspiration from the phrase, “plenty more fish in the sea”. The emotional highs and lows are intentionally printed in stark black and white onto industrial MDF board, reinforcing the concept of commodification, where individuals often feel more like products than human partners.</image:caption>

<image:title>GALLERY - It’s in the Bag!!! or Is it in the Bag???</image:title>
<image:caption>acrylic ink, modge podge, gold thread, linen fabric, wax crayon on brown paper shopping bags. image size: 210mm x 280mm. paper bag size: 315mm x 340mm x 140mm. collection of 10 bags. Artist Statement Why fish hide and how to catch them is the paradox I explore through the metaphorical journey of ‘catching a fish’ in the context of modern relationships. Layering, masking, and purposefully collaging aesthetics and emotional narratives onto brown paper shopping bags evoke the raw commodification of love, while reflecting on the complexities of online dating. Crumpled souls appear buoyant and glittering as we navigate the voyage in the goldfish bowl collection. I then contemplate the parallels between online dating and shopping as I expose and deconstruct melancholic images, layering them with extracts of texts and glimmers of golden threads in the subsequent collection.</image:caption>
